Angkor & Floating Village Tour – 3 Days

Destination: Siem Reap
Duration: 3 days + 2 nights
Accommodation: 4 star hotel of your choice

Between the 9th and 15th centuries, the Khmer Empire produced some of the world’s most magnificent architectural masterpieces in Angkor. Today, these works – 1,000 temples in total – comprise magnificent ruins that lay in various stages of preservation – some mysteriously jutting out through the forest, and others out in plain view such as the  fabulous Angkor Wat.

Explore the archaeological treasures of Angkor on this 3-day Angkor & Floating Village tour which commences at the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, winds through the mysterious temples of Angkor, and culminates at Banteay Srei, which is regarded as the jewel in the crown of Classical Khmer Art. Continue onto Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor’s famous Angkor Wat. You’ll also get the chance to visit a floating village and take a traditional wooden boat ride on one of the largest lakes in Asia.

Highlights:

  • Siem Reap

The temple was built in the12th century and is considered a masterpiece – a prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture.

In the evening, enjoy dinner at the local restaurant. Then, retire to your hotel room and unwind as you prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3 : Angkor – Tonle Sap Lake – Depart Siem Reap

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver and guide will pick you up and take you to Banteay Srei temple, regarded as the jewel in the crown of Classical Khmer Art. Continue on to Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor thanks to the restoration method of “anastylosis.” The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of mountain people who inhabited the region at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to the Khmers. No inscriptions have been found for this temple, but the style of most of the architecture is of the classic art of the middle period similar to Angkor Wat. The proportions of Banteay Samre are splendid – a unique feature is an interior moat with laterite paving, which when filled with water must have given the temple an ethereal atmosphere.

Following lunch at the local restaurant, you will visit the floating village of Chong Khneas, which is located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Then, take a traditional wooden boat ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, the “Great Lake” of Cambodia, one of the largest in Asia.

In the evening, transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for your departure flight, or stay in Siem Reap for your next adventure.
