Siem Reap is the provincial capital and gateway to Angkor where, between the 9th and 15th centuries, the Khmer Empire produced some of the world’s most magnificent architectural masterpieces learn this here now. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Angkor encompasses dozens of temple ruins including Bayon, Banteay Srei and the legendary Angkor Wat. 

250 kilometres south of Siem Reap lies Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital. The city’s wide, tree-lined boulevards and faded colonial mansions hold an undeniable charm despite its recent turbulent past.

On this 5-day Angkor and Phnom Penh tour, you will view the breathtaking expanse of Angkor Wat via hot air balloon, lose yourself exploring the mysteries of Angkor’s temples, enjoy the area’s breathtaking scenery at sunrise, and be treated to a traditional Khmer home cooked meal.

On day 3, you will fly to Phnom Penh where you will explore the the best of what the city has to offer.

Day 1 : Siem Reap Arrival – Angkor

Your driver and guide will meet you at Siem Reap International Airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, we will drive to Angkor to visit the magnificent Angkor Wat – the largest Khmer temple and finest example of Angkorian art and architecture. Weather permitting, we will take a hot air balloon ride over Angkor Wat for a panoramic view of the entire Angkor complex.

Day 2:

Dawn is one of the most beautiful and haunting times to visit the temples, whose ancient sandstone blocks are painted gold by the early morning rays. Wake before dawn and take a tuk-tuk to the jungle-entwined Ta Prohm temple, where you will be treated to a magnificent sunrise.

Return to your hotel for breakfast then set out on a full day temple tour.  Begin with Angkor Thom’s imposing South Gate, topped by the four serenely smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara. Next, visit Bayon temple, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Enjoy a lunch of traditional Khmer cuisine served at the home of a local. After lunch, we will drive to Banteay Srei, home to Angkor’s finest stone carvings, followed by Preah Khan (Sacred Sword), one of Angkor’s largest temples constructed in the 12th Century by Jayavarman VII.

Day 3: Siem Reap – Phnom Penh

Today, we fly from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital. Your driver and guide will meet you at Phnom Penh airport and take you to your hotel for check-in.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Royal Palace, home of the royal family and the opulent Silver Pagoda. Later, we will visit the Russian Market for some bargain hunting.

Day 4: Phnom Penh

Spend the day visiting the capital’s main attractions, learn about the Khmer Rouge and Cambodia’s recent history on a guided tour of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the notorious Choeung Ek “Killing Fields.”

In the afternoon, enjoy a Cyclo ride down Sihanouk Boulevard to visit the National Museum.

Day 5: Depart Phnom Penh

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel then transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
